Event Notes:
Please note:
Next week is the away evening at Stinchcombe, tee off at 3pm.
The week after (16th September) we will be starting at 16:30.
Date for the diary - End of Season, Saturday 17th October.

A quiet evening this week with only 9 nighters taking on the challenge.
There were a few dubious “drop outs” at the last minute, suspected to be due to the weather.
Yes, there was a rather heavy shower as the first group teed off, but that soon blew through and left us with pretty reasonable conditions.

We welcomed Mr Witt who popped up to join us for the meeting. He was planning on playing but buggered his back during the day lifting a 3.5m steel. That will do it!
Witty very kindly bought everyone who was there a drink as it’s his birthday this Sunday. Many happy returns for Sunday Witty and cheers for the drink.
Witty also generously put £10 into the kitty, not a donation, as he hasn’t been for a number of weeks.

1st group – Mike H, Chris & Nigel
Nothing to report really. Nige had to shoot off after the golf as he received an emergency call from his wife who had broken down in Malmesbury. He left £10 to cover his subs and fines.
Nearest the pin was on the 6th in 3 shots and Nigel and Chris didn’t have a clue. It turned out that Mike’s 3rd shot was just closer that Chris’, BUT Mike has a 2 putter length penalty. Knowing that his 2 putters would take his ball outside Chris’, Mike let Chris putt first and pick up the gimmie before putting a tee in the ground where Chris’ ball had been. He then took his 2 putter length penalty and told Chris he was nearest the pin.
Unfortunately, Chris did not go on to be closest, so the stitch up was wasted.

2nd group – Kev, Sean Marc G
Marc had trolly trouble again with it falling over onto one of the greens.
He was also reported for coaching and a Chairman-esque handicap protection move on the 9th. Hitting his tee shot onto the green and walking off with a blob!
As we all know, the Chairman seems to be fascinated by Marc’s hair so fined him again for this week’s “style”.
Sean was rather nervous playing off his reduced handicap. Standing on the 7th tee he had just 7 points and proceeded to blob it. It’s safe to say that Cuckoo was rather relieved when he rolled in his blob saver on the 8th hole.

3rd group – Paul, Gobby & The Chair
Only thing to report in this group was the reoccurring handicap protection and hinted to above.
This has to be the 4th or 5th time The Chair has been accused of handicap protection since his 2nd win and his handicap was cut. It’s now so blatant that he’s not even trying to hide it any more.
As usual, he starts off like a rocket and had 11 points after 4 holes and then suddenly 4 putts the next hole, 3 putts the next, 5 putts the next. Utterly shocking.
Credit where it’s due though, he did fine himself £5, so we’ll let him off.

Despite the attempt at handicap protection, top scorer was Marc Gani with 19 points. This is Marc 2nd win so gets the 20% cut (5 shots).
NTP was won by Mark Webb. He has chosen the 2nd for NTP in 2 weeks time.
